Procurement Engineer MEP

Job Main Purpose

This position will execute the purchasing of technical goods and services for the operations through acquiring very detailed knowledge of the equipment, materials and supplies used by the operations through evaluating suppliers and negotiating purchase agreements with them, as well as maintain the track for inventory of supplies.

Duties and tasks

Duty 1: Project Initiation and Execution

• Coordinate with the technical office senior engineer for the projects’ needs
• Check the projects’ purchase needs in the warehouse system 
• Coordinate with the projects’ engineer regarding the requisition of the project purchases 
• Present procurement plan progress reports to the technical office manager 
• Receive feedback regarding quality of products and services
• Coordinate with the cost engineer regarding the project budget in terms of material 
• Follow up with the accounting regarding the payment terms 

Duty 2: Suppliers Management

• List suppliers & Subcontractors and categorize them in alignment with quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Receive offers from suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with the purchasing policy and choose among them in accordance with the cost and quality scopes under the supervision of the technical office engineer and in alignment with the Technical office senior manager
• Manage supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Periodically review suppliers and subcontractors and launch improvement programs where required. In case of nonfulfillment, searching for alternative sourcing channels
• Initiate contracts with major suppliers to ensure cost saving through mass purchasing in alignment with the projects’ needs
• Follow up with the finance department (Accounts Payable) regarding the suppliers’ payment to be in accordance with the payment terms in the contract / purchase order
