Junior Accountant

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

Main Purpose:

Provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. Will be part of a team that working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.

Assist in the processing of all financial sheets such as balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to company accounting and financial guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
• Update accounts receivable/payable, issue invoices and perform reconciliations. 
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
• Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
• Handle all remittances (cash, credit or cheques) transactions with customers
• Ensure pricing is correct
• Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information.
• Keep reports of transactions
• Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Responsible for work processes that affect the success of own role and contribute to the overall performance of the department.
• Ensure timely banking of cash receipts.
• Ensure that adequate control and follow up on outstanding cash and controls is in place.
• Work under general supervision with regular review and guidance from a supervisor.

• From 2 to 4 years of proven experience as a junior accountant 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good command of the English Language
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of a technical or specialty area.
• Education: Bachelor of commerce
• Positive Attitude and punctuality
• Excellent organizing abilities
• Great attention to detail
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical skills
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office
