Description: Perform day to day activities related to Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) operation including preparation and maintaining safe working environment and reporting unsafe conditions. Perform related activities for process improvement as directed by immediate superior.
  • Complies to IMS system (QMS, EMS & OHSAS) requirements by reading.
  • Follows all the company policies, Regulations of (govt.& companies) and securing the company’s Assets in line with code of conduct.
  • Minimizes production cost with minimum usage of resources such as spares, consumables and tools.
  • Reads and understands all the work procedures, work instructions, quality documents and grade specifications concerning his area of responsibility.
  • Attends toolbox meeting to address all the safe working practices, INIR’s, Hazard & Risk Identification’s, Ladder Safety and Housekeeping.
  • Ensures that all tools/tackles and consumables are available near the shop floor all the time to avoid any kind of delays and to report to immediate superior any shortages or need repair.
  • Follows shift relieving policy (handover &takeover of shift at work site) and, he must ensure himself available at work site during working hours.
  • Follows the instructions of his superior and carry-out related work as per his directives.
  • Carries out pre-operation inspection / check list, equipment trials and any abnormalities noticed to be reporting to immediate superior.
  • Performs Tundish Preheating including operation of Preheater, Refractory Inspection, Nozzle cleaning and CNC cylinder checking.
  • Performs dummy bar preparation, centering and installation of quick sealing device.
  • Conducts mold packing, setting all controls to ready cast position, mold inspection and oil flow test.
  • Carries out tundish preparation for casting such as nozzle cleaning, tundish centering, nozzle bottom plugging and nozzle filling.
  • Performs ladle receiving activities like slide gate cylinder fixing/removal, ladle cover placing/removal, ladle shroud cleaning and re-attachment and ladle teeming throughout the casting period.
  • Performs mold tendering including slag fishing, mold level checking, wetting nozzle cleaning, nozzle changing, metal splashes cleaning and monitor abnormal oscillation.
  • Carries out manual cutting of billets during cutting torch failures, emergency billet evacuation during breakout and early disconnection.
  • Carries out ladle and tundish nozzle lancing when no free flow of molten steel, reporting to ladle man for any ladle nozzle lancing activity.
  • Carries out temperature measuring and metal sample taking activity and sending sample to QC lab.
  • Applies tundish covering powder, spout cleaning and deslagging at regular interval.
  • Performs mold changing activities including radioactive source handling, oscillating table retraction and cleaning of table track, mold transfer to maintenance area and getting spare.
  • Checks air bellows for leak or abnormal sitting, mold oil leak, mold water leak, during mold oscillations jerking, and checking of mold cover touching and mold trolley locking interlocks and signals.
  • Carries out housekeeping related activities to keep his work area clean and orderly.
  • Checks tundish car movement for any hydraulic leakage and pneumatic leakage and for load cell inspection and performs housekeeping on tundish car and tracks for smooth movement, free of obstruction.
  • Aids in handling emergency and abnormal situation around his area of responsibility and other area of SMP if his support is required.
  • Reviews all procedures related to his work from time to time and including procedures in handling emergencies aimed at improving responses.
  • Conducts production owned activities aimed at maintaining good working condition of CCM, such jobs as cooling chamber cleaning, spray headers alignment, clogged nozzles replacement, spray headers flushing, stuck up rollers checking, hoses and pipes water leakages, mill scale cleaning and disposal, mold covers repair.
