| Description: | Duties and Responsibilities3.1 Assures a work culture of respect and diversity that is reflective on the missionvision of the hospital.3.2 ‘Maintains confidentially of information from unauthorized person3.3 Acts as advocate to protect and promote patient rights patient to autonomy,respect, privacy, dignity and culture and religious beliefs of patient.3.4 Prioritizes and anticipates patient emergency needs through immediate andeffective Triaging and provides timely intervention during urgent and life –ordeath situations.3.5 Assess patient’s condition as well as detect changes in the symptoms, Vitalsigns including pain and other parameters and respond immediately throughcritical thinking skills.3.6 Prepares and administers medication (orally, Subcutaneously, Intramuscularlyand IV) safely ensuring appropriateness, monitoring patients and reportingAdverse reactions and accurate documentation.3.7 Takes samples for laboratory work ups and carry out ordered Diagnosticprocedure safely.3.8 Anticipates and Prepares patient and equipment and assist Physicians duringexamination, Treatments and Procedure (e.g Minor Surgical and OrthopaedicsProcedure)3.9 Applies, Handles and monitors specialized equipment used on patients andinterprets and record electronic displays such as Cardiac Monitors, ECGmachines, Oxygen delivery systems, Infusion Pumps etc.3.10 Maintain effective communication with patient and relatives and other memberof the Multidisciplinary team, to ensure that appropriate communication isshared and patient’s needs are met.3.1I Ensures that all written and electronic documentation within theunit/department is clear, concise, timely, accurate and complies with theAdministrative/Hospital standards for Records and Record Keeping.3.12 Monitors, evaluates, identifies emergency problems or changes in patientscondition and notify doctor and charge nurse. Explains patient’s care andprocedure to patient and family, to satisfy both patient and family member.3.13 Receives and insist on valid summary about patient’s condition from thefamily and clear written order from doctors, carried out order in timelymanner.3.14 Communicates timely all accurate and relevant information on the patient’sconditions to the Head Nurse and doctor.3.15 Understands role, functions and the ability to adapt quickly, and works underpressure during emergency as code blue, poly trauma.3.16 Ensures that the patient receives efficient and effective care through admissionprocedure without delay.3.17 Prepares patient for admission and coordinates with the ward Nurses andNursing supervisors on the availability of the in-patient beds. As well asexpl’ain to procedure to patient, arrange and evaluate all Laboratory,diagnostics procedures, Stat medication documents are completed andaccompanies the patient to ward for proper and complete Handover duringadmission.3.18 Prepares patient for surgery, including consents and other relevant Documentsas per Hospital Policies and coordinates with the operating room nurses forpatient that needs immediate surgical intervention.3.19 Endorses patients to other units with proper/accurate information anddocumentation to promote continuity of care.3.20 Maintains professional working relationship with unit colleagues and otherhealth professionals in the hospital.3.21 Maintains all time maximum safe environment for patient, family and staff;by checking PPM on apparatus, explosive hazard, crash cart, cleaning anddisinfection of the rooms, instruments, and maintain an environment whichprevents spread of infection, according to Infection Control and Safety policyand procedure.3.22 Responsible for the safe keeping of Narcotics when in charge.3.23 Ensures effectiveness of use and monitors the unit/department resourcesincluding stocks of consumable, clinical supplies and medicines3.24 Reports Acciden Vincidents/Complaints involving patients, carer and staff |
