Description: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and      Patient Safety Plan.
  • Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the     Hospital Education Program.
  •  Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and Develops guidelines and/or protocols. 
  • Assists Head Nurses/Managers with their quality improvement programs/projects.
  • Monitor, review and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care and/or services provided by members of Nursing Department.
  • Provides educational assistance to the nursing staff related to performance improvement.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of MSD Policies and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.
  • Prioritizes the quality improvement needs.
  • Conducts customer satisfaction survey if required.
  • Conducts unit rounds and interview patient for any concerns and issues related to the services provided.
  • Assists in developing and implementing related policies and guidelines in collaboration with appropriate units/departments.
  • Prepares and maintains records, files and other data relevant to quality improvement activities performed.
  • Provides guidance and consultation for nursing staff and Head Nurses/Managers in the development of performance improvement projects/activities.
  • Assisting in developing, implementing and evaluating an ongoing nursing unit quality improvement activities/projects and coordinate with Nursing Quality Supervisors/Coordinator in selection of appropriate methodology that involves data collection, analysis, evaluation, reporting, and feedback mechanism for all staff and administration of the Department of Nursing.
  •  Participates in the identification, development, measurement, and evaluation of nursing procedures, standards, and policies as they impact the Performance improvement Program for the Department of Nursing.
  • Participates in nursing department incident and occurrence reports reviews with the Nursing Units and assists with problem resolution.
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate specific clinical care and outcomes of care using the detailed key performance measures clinical pathway variances and prevention plan variances.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge related to position description as deemed appropriate.
  • Maintains open communication with colleagues throughout the hospital.
  • Continually keeps Director of Nursing updated on projects/assignments.

Qualifications:
  • Working Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement & Patient Safety.
  • Knowledge of MSD & JCIA standards.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, leadership, and strong personal skills.
  • Outstanding skills in data collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Experience in the use of spreadsheets (e.g. Excel) for QI related data management and display.
  • Excellent English Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
