Senior Psychiatrist

Summary of Position

• The Psychiatrist tasks will include the provision of the MH services at Caritas clinics, technical monitoring, and support of the mental health activities provided by the primary health care doctors in accordance with MH GAP.

Job description

• Patients assessment, treatment plan and follow up

• Ensure consultation and treatment to cases referred by Caritas Doctors

• Participate in MH GAP training of Caritas medical doctors

• Ensure the referral and the mainstreaming process to public hospitals, in addition, to arrange close follow up with Caritas doctors.

• Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding mental health

care, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.

• Weekly group case supervision – refresher training of Caritas Medical doctors

• Ongoing supervision-support to Caritas Medical Doctors.

• Ensure fidelity with MH GAP-IG and further develop skills in its use to Doctors.

• Maintains records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries and reports.

• Available as needed for assessment of at-risk or challenging patients

• Available 24/7 to support emergency mental health situation

• Available to conduct training to all the mental health workers in the humanitarian field

• Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery

• Master’s degree or equivalent in psychiatry

• Minimum 5 years of experience in psychiatry

• Good understanding of the Public health system in Egypt

• Fluent written and oral English

• Interest to work with refugees

• Previous supervisory experience – preferred

• Previous experience working with refugees – preferred

• Knowledge of MH GAP – preferred
