Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will maintain safe operation of laboratories and workshops, while ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety protocols as well as create and implement standard operating procedures for maintenance, replacement of equipment, resources and utilities, in labs and workshops. The Laboratory Safety Manager will create and implement standard operating procedures for occupational health and safety processes to be carried out in labs and workshops and ensure proper housekeeping activities are carried out in labs, workshops, and storage areas. The person in this position will establish a transient inventory system for consumables and storage area, supervise and demonstrate the safe use of lab and workshop equipment and liaise with external suppliers on procurement and maintenance of lab and workshop equipment. The successful candidate will also maintain a log of tasks and/or projects, carried out in labs and workshops. Also, coordinate with faculty to ensure efficient usage of labs and workshops. As well as ensure that laboratory equipment and materials are available and appropriately prepared for instructional delivery. More tasks include, ensuring that health and safety protocols are maintained during lessons, to avoid injuries and hazards. Managing the design and delivery of laboratory projects to reinforce and apply theoretical principles and facilitate TVET practice based learning. |
