Description: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and those specific to the department.
  • Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
  • Carries out a full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the Director/Head of department/division per individually approved clinical privileges.
  • Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.
  • To initiate and organize prospective trials and studies on currently important topics, with a view to publication.
  • Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Medicine Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
  • Instructs and guides, when necessary, junior medical staff in the overall care of patients, supervises their performance/work, and contributes to the training and teaching activities in the department.
  • Reports and discuss all unusual findings, complication or alterations in the management plan, with the Senior Registrar and Consultant.
  • Fulfills the requirement of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties about continuing medical education.
  • Works towards completing his post-graduate training and passing the Final Part of fellowship or Saudi Board.
  • Attends the Continuing Medical Education Program of the department.
  • Participates in approved research projects.
  • Shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
  • Acquire and maintain a valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as the standard of practice concerning morbidity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
  • Participates in CQI&PS system improvement activities, system control activities, and staff development activities.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSE:Essential:
  • Certificate from 3rd(Pls. refer to the annexure of this job description as determined by SCFHS).
  • SCFHS Registration and Accreditation.
  • Valid license from country of origin.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a broad field of knowledge and advanced procedural skills often including surgical interventions, trauma resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support, and advanced airway management.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Excellent communication to both English and Arabic language and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and tolerate risk.
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with the constantly varying workloads.
  • Ability to manage life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
  • Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the field.
