Description: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules & Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
  • Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
  • Uses clinical skills and methods appropriate to a primary care setting to analyze the patient’s complaints and establish a plan of action in his/her best interest.
  • Initiates investigations that will confirm, establish or rule out the diagnosis, or be of benefit to the patient.
  • Refers patients to Consultant Family & Community Medicine or appropriate specialist for opinion or treatment as deemed necessary.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients/families in an effort to promote compliance and shared participation in a caring environment.
  • Follows up those patients with ongoing or chronic illness or when a the rapeuticn response requires evaluation.
  • Carries out other clinical duties as assigned by the Consultant and/or Head of Family & Community Medicine Department in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
  • Participates in the teaching of staff assigned for training purposes.
  • To acquire and maintain a valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties with Regard to continuing medical education.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient/staff communications.
  • Attends the continuing Medical Education Program of the Department.
  • Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
  • Shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his/her colleagues.
  • Is responsible for own professional development and growth and remains updated in current professional practices.
  • Participate in Community activities as related to health education and immunization campaigns.
  • Participates in CQIPS System Improvement Activities, CQIPS System Control Activities, CQIPS Staff Development Activities.
  • Participate in Environmental Safety Awareness i.e. Disaster, CPR, Fire, Infection Control.
  • Participate in Community activities as related to health education and patient education practice.
EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSE:Essential:
  • Certificate from 3rd (Pls. refer to the annexure of this job description as determined by SCFHS).
  • Valid License to practice as Family & Community Physician from the country of origin.
  • SCFHS Accreditation and Registration.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to execute a physical exam with full precision.
  • Ability to develop a suitable differential diagnosis.
  • Ability to order and organize investigations.
  • Ability to design a proper management plan.
  • Ability to describe and apply the foundations of antenatal care in the Primary Health Care (PHC) Center.
  • Ability to describe the major types and uses of alternative medicine and how it can be combined in Family practice.
  • Knowledgeable with the basic elements of preventive child services.
  • Ability to analyze the indications of procedures commonly performed in Family Medicine.
