| Description: | The job holder is responsible to move and transport materials and equipment from and to within the warehouse efficiently, while ensuring adherence to safety regulations. Moves, transports and organizes materials, equipment and shipments as required by warehouse manager/ storekeeper. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Lifts, stacks and un-stacks articles and materials using diesel, electric, gas or petrol powered trucks equipped with fork attachments. Moves raw materials and finished goods to/from processing or despatch areas of the group factories. Transports materials, equipment, shipments to and from loading dock. Makes sure goods are stored in the appropriate area of a warehouse so they may be easily located in future. Loads transport vehicles, making sure loads are evenly and securely placed. Services and makes minor adjustments to the forklift and ensures maintenance schedule is adhered to by delivering forklift to service/maintenance function promptly. Ensures the safe operation of a materiel handling equipment. Adheres to health and safety of all in-warehouse activities, such as moving or handling materials/equipment, and observes all health & safety procedures as delineated by management. Utilizes all requisite protective gear such as helmets, gloves, etc. |
